A quick guide: open a file, check the colour data, compare batches with their standard, and print a report.
Open a file
Click Open file or drop a .qtx or spectral .csv file anywhere on the page. You can drop several at once.
Each file becomes a report in the left sidebar. Click one to open it, or rename it from the title at the top.
To add batch measurements to a file that holds the standards, use ⋯ → Add measurements from file.
Colour settings
The button next to Report shows the current settings. Change the illuminant, observer, colour-difference formula, tolerance and up to three illuminants to compare under. Everything, including the printed report, updates straight away.
Views
Overview: palette, key figures, colour-space plots and all spectra.
Samples: the full data table. Click a heading to sort, type to filter, and pick extra columns.
Spectra: reflectance, K/S, normalised or difference curves for the selected samples. Hover for values.
Colour space: 2D plots or the 3D viewer.
Compare: batch results against each standard.
Similarity: ΔE between every pair of samples, with the closest and farthest pairs.
Click any sample, chip or point to open its details on the right, where you can edit its name, notes and role.
Standards & batches
Roles are read from the file. To change one, open the sample and set it to standard or batch, and choose which standard a batch belongs to.
Batches are classed Pass, Marginal or Fail against the tolerance, with a shade description such as "darker, redder".
3D viewer
Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, right-drag or Shift-drag to pan.
Double-click a point to zoom to it. Use the 3D / Top / Side buttons to reset the view.
The options menu toggles labels, drop lines, batch vectors, tolerance ellipsoids and the sRGB gamut, and saves a PNG.
Reports
Click Report. The builder on the left edits the title block, sections, page layout and accent colour; the preview updates as you type.
Click Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog choose your printer or Save as PDF, and keep the scale at 100%.
Your report settings are saved with each file, so the next report from the same data looks the same.

Your data
Your files never leave your device. They are read in your browser, and your reports, edits and report settings are saved in this browser only. Nothing is uploaded to or kept on the server.
To see your reports on another computer or browser, open the file there. Deleting a report with ✕ removes it from this browser; your original file is not affected.
Clearing your browser's site data also clears your report list, so keep your original files.
About Spectro Color Lab
Spectro Color Lab opens spectrophotometer files, recomputes the colorimetry from the reflectance spectra, and turns them into formatted colour reports you can print or save as PDF.
What it does
Reads your instrument filesDatacolor QTX in its common variants, plus spectral CSV/TSV. Standards and batches are recognised automatically.
Recomputes colorimetryTen illuminants, 2° or 10° observer. CIELAB, LCh, XYZ and on-screen colour chips for every sample.
Evaluates batchesCIEDE2000, CMC(l:c), CIE94 and ΔE*ab with pass / marginal / fail, shade terms, strength, grey scale and metamerism.
Shows colour spacea*b* and L*C* plots, spectral curves, a ΔE matrix and an interactive 3D CIELAB viewer.
Prints reportsA4 or Letter reports with cover, data tables, QC pages, 3D views, data sheets, spectral appendix and sign-off.
Exports dataColorimetric, spectral and batch-result CSVs, and the full dataset as JSON.
Privacy
Your data stays in your browser. Files are read on your own device and never uploaded. Reports, edits and settings are stored only in this browser, so no one else, including the server, can see them.
